The Whitefield Arms
The Whitefield Arms is a hidden gem, hidden amidst the two most happening places in Whitefield- Phoenix marketcity on the right and VR Bengaluru on the left. Though it has a separate entrance, it still has another entrance from the VR Bengaluru mall. Parking is via the mall with even a provision for Valet. It is actually a part of the Waverly Hotel and Residences, which also has 54 luxurious accommodations.
The interiors add to a feeling of royalty with Striking dark wood robust furniture, chessboard flooring and paintings that depicts history. The history of Whitefield and its surrounding areas are imbibed through these paintings. The Whitefield standing today was formally launched in 1882 after the Maharaja of Mysore -Charmaraja Wodeyar, granted 3900 acres of land to the Anglo-Indian community. Named after David White, Whitefield over the time developed into a beautiful colonial styled Anglo-Indian colony.
The same British styled architecture and ambiance is depicted at the Whitefield Arms.
We were completely blown away by the beautiful patio seating outside. With periodic drizzles, the atmosphere added to romance. There were beautiful potted flowers kept here and there.
We got comfortably seated in the wooden bench at the leftmost corner. The staff was polite and described us the menu and the best menu options. We ordered:
Spitfire wings: Loved it! Very beautifully presented. Tasted more of chicken lollipops than wings. Very crispy outside and juicy inside. It was served with a cheese dip.
Clay oven Grilled Grouper- It was quite average and I personally felt that it needed to cook more. As explained by the staff, since it is cooked in clay oven and not tandoor the taste is different.
The waverly caesar salad- Loved it! A healthy and tasty choice, prepared flawlessly.
Half Fried Chicken- This one is the best of the lot. I recommend everyone to taste it. Served with mashed potatoes, some veggies and a mouth-watering sauce. The portion is huge and more than sufficient for one person. If 2 people share it then it will be comfortable.
Sticky toffee pudding- This was again recommended by the staff and no regrets having ordered it. It actually a sponge cake soaked in hot chocolate and served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. A ten on ten!
Overall food was really good, very well presented. The waiting time was a little on the higher side.
Staff was very polite and well-informed about the menu. An afternoon spent well. Looking forward for a second visit soon to taste the other options!
Here goes my rating breakup:
